An important office hub, developed mainly around the Pipera metro station. The area is dominated by large office projects and hosts many international companies, making it one of the most important destinations for the IT&C sector.

About the area

The area, at a glance

Dimitrie Pompeiu Boulevard is one of Bucharest's traditional technology poles, with office campuses developed around the Pipera metro station. The area hosts service centres and technology companies, with rents more affordable than in Floreasca–Barbu Văcărescu. Metro access remains the main draw.

History

The boulevard is named after the mathematician Dimitrie Pompeiu (1873-1954), who took his doctorate in mathematics in Paris under Henri Poincaré, served as President of the Chamber of Deputies between 1931 and 1932 and is known for the Cauchy-Pompeiu formula. The area grew on Pipera's former high-tech industrial platform: IRIDE Business Park, built on this land, was the capital's first business park and one of its largest.

Since then, the boulevard has turned into a Class A office corridor. Globalworth Campus added three 12-storey buildings, almost 88,000 sqm of leasable space and 760 underground parking spaces: the first building was delivered in 2017, the second in 2018 and the third later, as part of phase 3. Across the road from the Pipera metro station, Immofinanz developed Metroffice, three office buildings totalling 40,400 sqm, with a hotel and retail included.

Amenities and access

Pipera metro station (M2) is right next to the main business parks, and Aurel Vlaicu station (M2, since 1987) is about 10 minutes' walk away. Two tram lines run in front of the office parks; lines 16 and 36 are due to be connected to line 5 through the project now under tender. An extension of the M2 metro line towards Petricani, over about 1.6 km with two new stations, is also under discussion. By car, the area connects to DN1 and the capital's northern ring road, close to Henri Coandă Airport.
