Iași

Iași has overtaken Timișoara to become Romania's second-largest regional office hub, after Cluj-Napoca. Modern stock is concentrated around the Palas complex, where the Palas Campus building brought 54,000 sqm of Class A space right into the city centre.

The area attracts IT&C firms, shared service centres (BPO/SSC) and insurance and automotive companies, supported by the graduate pool of Alexandru Ioan Cuza University. Iași International Airport, with its new Schengen terminal, and the A7 motorway towards Bucharest complete the access links.

History

Alexandru Ioan Cuza University was founded in 1860 by princely decree and has operated since 1897 in the University Palace in Copou. The central area was transformed in 2012, with the opening of Palas Mall next to the Palace of Culture, the first mixed-use project of this scale in Romania, part of the Palas Iași complex, one of the largest private investments in the city centre.

Today, Iași's office market is one of the most important regional markets in Romania, with supply concentrated in a few modern projects and demand dominated by IT&C and services companies. The market is smaller than Cluj-Napoca's, but it offers competitive costs and a large pool of specialists, which keeps attracting companies looking to expand or diversify their operations in Romania.
